The protection of personal data of children and adolescents is in the dark, because there is no adequate legislation, resulting in parents, guardians or legal representatives give information under a wide discretion.

So said Monica Gonzalez Contra, academic secretary of the Institute of Legal Research of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (IIJ-UNAM).

In this sense, the university researcher is very questionable whether the ownership of the data available to children and adolescents under the control of parents and guardians, as the violation of the protection of such personal data and related information lives of children has two dimensions.

First, specify, because on one hand this right is violated, and, second, especially since it is also projected into the future.

He warned that in this circumstance these children do not have the slightest possibility of refusing to provide such information or decide on it.
